RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the safety, effectiveness and consistency of "Zoning Method" foraminotomy in posterior cervical endoscopic surgery.@*METHODS@#From March 2016 to October 2018, 21 patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy were enrolled. Endoscopic foraminotomy and nucleus pulposus enucleation were performed in the patients. There were 13 males and 8 females, aged from 35 to 56 years old with an average of (47.3±5.1) years. The surgical segment of 6 cases were C, 10 cases were C and 5 cases were C. The "Zoning Method" was proposed and used to complete the foraminotomy under endoscope, and then to perform nucleus pulposus removal and nerve root decompression. The operation length, intraoperative bleeding volume and complications were recorded, and NDI, VAS were evaluated before operation, 1 day after the operation and 1 week after the operation.@*RESULTS@#All the operations were successful. The operation length was(46.10±26.39) min, intraoperative bleeding volume was (50.10±18.25) ml, and there were no complications such as nerve injury, dural tear or vertebral artery injury. All 21 patients were followed up for 3 to 9 months, with a median of 6 months. Postoperative VAS and NDI were obvious improved (0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Endoscopic foraminotomy with "Zoning Method" is safe clinically significant, and consistent.

RESUMO

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is the most frequent pattern of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy with poor prognosis and high mortality.Studies in recent years found that non-coding small RNA molecules (miRNA) were closely related to the clinical course of DCM.The present article made a review on the expression pattern of miRNA and development of DCM study.

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the Effect of 2,3-butanedione monoxime (BDM) on calcium paradox-induced heart injury and its underlying mechanisms.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Thirty-two adult male SD rats were randomized into 4 groups, namely the control group, BDM treatment control group, calcium paradox group, and BDM treatment group. Isolated Sprague Dawley male rat hearts underwent Langendorff perfusion and the left ventricular pressure (LVP) and left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) were monitored. Left ventricular developed pressure (LVDP) was calculated to evaluate the myocardial performance. Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) content in the coronary flow was determined. Triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining was used to measure the infarct size, and myocardial cell apoptosis was tested with TUNEL method. Western blotting was used to determine the expression of cleaved caspase-3 and cytochrome c.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared with the control group, BDM at 20 mmol/L had no effect on cardiac performance, cell death, apoptotic index or the content of LDH, cleaved caspase-3 and cytochrome c at the end of perfusion under control conditions (P>0.05). Calcium paradox treatment significantly decreased the cardiac function and the level of LVDP and induced a larger infarct size (P<0.01), an increased myocardial apoptosis index (P<0.01), and up-regulated expressions of cleaved caspase-3 and cytochrome c (P<0.01). BDM (20 mmol/L) significantly attenuated these effects induced by calcium paradox, and markedly down-regulated the levels of LVEDP and LDH (P<0.01), lowered myocardial apoptosis index, decreased the content of cleaved caspase-3 and cytochrome c (P<0.01), increased LVDP, and reduced the infarct size (P<0.01).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>BDM suppresses cell apoptosis and contracture and improves heart function and cell survival in rat hearts exposed to calcium paradox, suggesting the value of BDM as an potential drug for myocardial ischemia reperfusion injur.</p>

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To study the variation of latency and amplitude of the event related potential (ERP) and its distribution in human scalp when the normal subjects were stimulated with different visual fields.@*METHODS@#The ERP recorded in scalp with the stimulation of 10 degrees visual field and 60 degrees visual field respectively in 20 healthy volunteers with normal visual function.@*RESULTS@#Two different visual field stimulation may evoke the different exogenous components P1 (70-125 ms), N1 (90-170 ms), P2 (140-220 ms) and endogenous components N2 (190-280 ms) and P3 (290-430 ms). The latencies of all the components evoked by 10 degrees visual field were shorter than that of the 60 degrees visual field while the amplitudes of N1 and N2 were lower and appeared over the extensive encephalic region; and the amplitudes of the P1, P2 and P3 were higher and appeared in occipitotemporal, prefrontal and occipital region, respectively.@*CONCLUSION@#Two different visual field stimulation may evoke all the ERP components with significant differences in the latency, amplitude and distribution. The differences may reflect the different visual information integration and processing in human brain during the different visual field stimulation.

RESUMO

Background:Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is a key inflammatory cytokine in many disorders, while the significance of IL-17A in nasal polyposis (NP) is still obscure. This study aimed to investigate the expression of IL-17A in nasal polyps from both atopic and nonatopic patients and its associations with clinical and histological features. Methods: In all, 30 patients with NP were included, and were grouped into atopic and nonatopic patients according to skin prick test (SPT). Disease severity was evaluated by symptom score, endoscopy score and CT score. Histological characteristics were assessed by eosinophilic infiltration, basement membrane (BM) thickness, epithelial damage, squamous metaplasia, and goblet cell hyperplasia. IL-17A expression in polyps was detected by ELISA and immunohistochemistry. Results: Endoscopy score and CT score were significantly higher in atopic NP patients than in nonatopic NP patients (P<0.05). IL-17A levels were significantly upregulated in both atopic (P<0.01) and nonatopic (P<0.05) patients versus controls. Furthermore, IL-17A levels were significantly higher in the atopic group versus nonatopic group. Significantly positive correlations were found between IL-17A levels and CT scores, eosinophilic infiltration and BM thicknesses. Conclusions: These results indicated that expression of IL-17A was significantly upregulated in NP patients and was more severe in atopic NP patients, suggesting that IL-17A may play an important role in the pathology of NP and atopy may contribute to NP by stimulating the production of IL-17A.
